Overview

My topic is the viability of bilingual education versus english immersion. Billingual education seeks to establish basic language skills in the native language before beginning english. The controversy is whether this teaching style works better than one in which the student is taught only in english, forcing them to learn the language. The issue largely centersaround which style best increases test scores.
There is also debate on how to measure the success of programs, and many studies have been cited on both sides. Because it would be impossible to diffinitavely prove that bilingual education is the best technique, my question is only whether or not bilingual education is a viable teaching style.
